Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels edition celebrates 50th anniversary

Chevrolet has created a new Camaro Hot Wheels special edition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the partnership between the GM brand and the iconic toy car maker.

Based on the Camaro 2LT and the 2SS coupe and convertible, the special editions will make their public debut at the 2017 SEMA show in a few days. We’re sure they will wow the crowds, including the kids as toy-sized versions have already been made.

On top of the regular features of the respective models, the Hot Wheels 50th anniversary edition comes with Satin Graphite stripes with Silver Ice metallic accents, Satin Graphite ground effects, and a set of 20-inch forged allow wheels also in Satin.

There’s some special 50th anniversary badges on the front guards, in case passersby don’t realise it’s a bespoke model, along with a black taillight panel with the Hot Wheels emblem. The traditional Chevrolet bowtie is featured in black for a sporty look.

Inside, a number of special touches are made. You’ll notice the orange kneepads on the doors and orange seat belts, embossed front seat headrests with jet black leather, and the 50th anniversary Hot Wheels badge on the steering wheel. Some illuminated door sill plates also showcase the celebration.

It’s a pretty special moment for the two brands, having worked together on projects now for 50 years. Hot Wheels fans will recognise the orange highlights, harking back to the famous toy tracks. Tom Peters, director of Exterior Design for Chevrolet Performance Cars, said:

“The Chevrolet Performance design studio is full of designers who were inspired by Hot Wheels. The Camaro Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition captures that passion, turning childhood fantasy into reality.”

Buyers can apply the Hot wheels pack for US$4995, and it can be applied to the 2LT and 2SS as mentioned. Orders are scheduled to start coming through in the first quarter of 2018.
